The Harvest Moon Sacrifice

Every year, on the night of the Harvest Moon, the small town of Millfield held a festival to celebrate the bounty of their harvest. But beneath the joyous festivities, there was a dark and sinister secret that the townspeople kept hidden.

One year, a young woman named Lily had wandered away from the festival and stumbled upon a group of robed figures in a clearing in the woods. They were chanting in a language she didn't understand, and their eyes were fixated on the full moon overhead.

Lily tried to leave, but one of the figures had spotted her and dragged her towards the circle. The others held her down as they began to chant, louder and more frenzied.

As the moon rose higher in the sky, Lily felt a cold dread settle in her bones. She realized too late that she was about to become a sacrifice to whatever dark god the cult worshipped.

Just as she thought it was over, a loud howl pierced the air. The cult members looked around nervously, and Lily saw a figure emerge from the shadows. It was a creature, part-human and part-wolf, with sharp teeth and glowing eyes.

The creature lunged at the cult members, tearing through them with ease. As Lily tried to flee, the creature caught her arm, but instead of attacking, it simply looked at her with an almost human expression of sadness.

It was then that Lily realized the truth - the creature was the guardian of the forest, tasked with protecting it from those who would harm it. And the Harvest Moon Sacrifice was an old tradition, one that the townspeople had long since forgotten the true meaning of.

The creature let Lily go, and she ran back to the festival, screaming for help. But when the townspeople arrived at the clearing, they found nothing but blood and broken bodies. The creature had vanished, leaving behind a warning - the forest was not to be trifled with.

From then on, the townspeople no longer celebrated the Harvest Moon Sacrifice, and the woods were left untouched. But the memory of the creature, and the horrors it had inflicted, lingered on in the minds of those who had witnessed it.
